Welcome to Blue Heron Elementary School!
It is a privilege to serve as the Assistant Principal of Blue Heron Elementary and to partner with our students, families, staff, and community. Every day, I have the honor of watching our students learn, persevere, and discover what they are capable of becoming. It is a joy to be part of a school community where children are known, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential.
I believe that every student deserves an outstanding education grounded in high expectations, meaningful relationships, and instruction that reflects the best of what educational research tells us about how children learn. At Blue Heron, we are committed to ensuring that every classroom provides engaging, equitable learning experiences that challenge students to think deeply, solve problems, and develop the knowledge and skills they need for future success.
As an instructional leader, I am passionate about supporting teachers as they continually refine their practice through collaboration, reflection, and the use of evidence-informed instructional strategies. Great schools are built by great educators who are committed to learning themselves. Our teachers embrace that responsibility each day, working together to ensure every instructional decision is purposeful and every student has access to rigorous, high-quality learning opportunities.
Equity is at the heart of this work. We believe that equity means providing every student with what they need to succeed while maintaining high expectations for all learners. We celebrate the unique strengths, experiences, and perspectives that every child brings to Blue Heron, and we strive to create classrooms where every student feels a sense of belonging, confidence, and purpose.
Our commitment extends beyond academics. We know that children learn best when they feel safe, valued, and connected. By fostering positive relationships and modeling our schoolwide expectations of being Ready, Responsible, and Respectful, we help students develop not only as learners but also as compassionate citizens and leaders.
Thank you for trusting us with your child's education and for partnering with us throughout the school year. Together, we can inspire curiosity, celebrate growth, and ensure that every Blue Heron student has the opportunity to thrive. I look forward to working alongside you as we continue to learn, grow, and make Blue Heron Elementary a place where every child belongs, every educator grows, and every student achieves.
Warmly,
Lori Callan
